We love when cats can help cats–and so we have to give a shout out to two organizations that have made an art of ‘cat connections.’
The first is Cat Life Foundation, which has supported research, habitat protection, and conservation for wild cats big and small. They helped green our base camp with new solar panels, and they recently purchased two GPS radio collars. Since 2008, they have supported the deployment of 9 collars overall, making it possible for us to track snow leopards as they cross borders, interact, and hunt. Cougars, bobcats, European wildcats–they support them all. How cool is that? Well, the Snow Leopard Trust has long argued that our programs, which focus on reducing tensions between herders and snow leopards in Asia, can help also help ranchers and cougars in the United States. Like Cat Life, we see the special connection between all cats!
Need more ‘cat connections’? Just check out the videos over at Big Cat Rescue. You can go on a ‘personal’ tour with one of their experts as they talk about snow leopards (they have 2 rescued captive snow leopards) and what makes them unique. Big Cat Rescue not only provides care for some of the biggest abandoned cats, but also educates the public and raises funds for conservation.
