Summer research efforts are still going strong. The team is busy collecting camera traps and will soon begin analyzing the data. While these cameras provide us with incredibly reliable information on population status and changes, they also help understand other demographic and behavioral traits of the snow leopards. We are also hoping to use the cameras to estimate prey abundance and demography using pictures of ibex and argali.
We are also preparing to host a training workshop for wildlife managers, biologists and students on snow leopard research and conservation. The seven-day-long training will bring in snow leopard conservation practitioners from all over Mongolia to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and tools for effective conservation and monitoring.
